Re: extreme dry hair and skin

Thanks jane123. I actually ended up getting my thyroid removed while I had the mirena. I think this stupid IUD caused me to have Hashimotos Thyroiditis. (an auto immune disease). Weird thing about that is I had my thyroid function destroyed by radioactive Iodine about 18 years ago. I was told that my thyroid attacked itself. Isn't that weird?! I have been on synthroid since about 20; but the levels started going stir crazy after mirena #1 went in. Literally the first month. My level never changed prior to that. I so think I need to have my levels checked, but I feel like I should wait until my body readjusts to not having the IUD a little longer. A little over 1 1/2 mos. post removal. Not quite feeling nornal enough yet. Maybe after my 3rd. cycle has passed. That seems to be my worst days. I don't want to spend a lot of $ on labs until I feel more normal, thinking it will only need to be switched at the 6 week check up. Do you have thyroid issues too?
I plan on talking to my thyroid doc. very soon and run all of this info on the stupid IUD by him and see what he has to say. Thanks for the suggestion. I am sure you have nailed it.
