Re: Natural cure for Bladder infection and IC?

It would be hard to disagree with anything in this above posting. I would only clarify a couple of things and add to the postings.

I use cranberry tabs in the elderly who have chronic UTI's.
We use two tabs 3x daily.

My daughter is a chronic sufferer, and most chronic infections do appear to be e coli.

My daughter has used a variety of alternative substances.

She by far has had great results instituting whole aloe vera, (which contains similar quinones as mentioned.)

Garlic oil 1,000 mg with food 2x daily.

Chlorophyll one tablespoon 2x daily.

Plus whole aloe vera juice, 1/4 cup 3x daily.

(All of these substances are also anti viral.)

She actually contracted a hemoragic UTI while on vacation and I gave her this protocol over the phone and it actually got rid of the infection, therefore is a great preventative as well.

Also, there are people out there who call IC a viral infection and actually point to adenovirus. In the hemorrahic form of this disease the FDA has approved DMSO as a treatment. Really! I didn't believe it either.

DMSO should be used carefully as it absorbes toxins and can carry them into the blood stream. It can be taken orally and/or topically as long as you do not use rubber gloves to apply. Must drink from glass containers only.

Standard dose of DMSO is 3cc per quart of filtered water for oral consumption.

Do not chug this quart, take the entire day to finish the quart and prepare new batch next day, keep in fridge.

This would make sense under the viral theory of HIC.
Viruses typically are considered anaerobes and increasing partial pressure of oxygen or modifying ph of interstitial fluid and urine can bring about viral dormancy. (not death)

The virus will not go away for good, just become dormant.

I have seen buffered ascorbates used. I would mix time release with immediate release and would taper up to a target dose. 12,000 mg per day is a reasonable target and should be 3 to four divided doses with food. Can be used in conjunction with the other protocols.

Your body absorbes 200 mg of vitamin every hour so these higher dosages will insure that it gets flushed through the urinary system.

THey used to call IC and HIC an autoimmune disease, but the dormancy vs active cycles mimick other viral infections that share the same cycles.

The adenovirus relationship is a relatively new concept and would explain perfectly why DMSO works.(sulfer allergies beware)

Alkaline substances therefore should help with this disease as well.

Otherwise, I couldn't recommend a better protocol for the money. There are other alternative protocols out there but some of the stuff is harder to get.

This protocol is anti anaerobe (bacteria,) and anti viral!
Good Luck and keep us posted on what is helping or not.

Bret
