Digestion drains ALOT of energy from the body. Use LIQUID nutrition (vegetable juices and such) and avoid hard to digest foods (they rob your body of energy needed to heal).

Do NOT shy away from calories (especially empty calories). Calories are ENERGY. Your body needs extra energy right now for healing well.

Most of the damage from a flu comes from the nasal drip. The sinus drips infected fluid down the esophagus into the gut messing up digestion (garlic kills the bad bacteria). Retain the heat around the neck by wearing a towel around the neck when you are home (after an hour, you might forget that you have the flu)...at work, do not leave the towel hanging from your neck, put it inside your shirt so it doesn't get caught on anything. Wrap the towel around completely to cover the front of the neck. Wear the towel when you sleep also. Use a pillow to cover the chest while you sleep, it will absorb your body heat and keep the chest and innards warm enough to deal much better with the nasal drip. You will feel more comfortable with a bandana around the forehead and also if you can cover the back of the head behind the ears. Brushing the teeth and tongue also controls bacteria in the mouth (the oral environment can have an effect on the sinus cavity).

When you're at work, the increased blood circulation usually makes it more comfortable, but by the time you get home, you will need to simply relax and wear the towel in order for healing to continue.
