Re: currently on Levoxyl 25mcg, TSH normal, FT4 low, still have symptoms?

Mike...

Have you seen http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com?
It's full of really good info. Janie owns a yahoo group NaturalThyroidHormone. Endocrinologists are slaves to the TSH. What they don't know that a thyroid treated optimally, the TSH will be VERY low. It's rare that an endo will treat symptoms and ignore the TSH. There's also the problem of converting T4 meds to T3 (what the thyroid actually uses). I was on synthroid and felt miserable. None of my hypo symptoms were resolved, but my endo was happy because my TSH was "perfect." Sound familar? I finally found a doctor that prescribed armour. I'm working on dealing with adrenal fatigue (high cortisol), but I'm feeling warmer these days.

Janie's site talks about ferritin levels. If it is too low (below 70) then the thyroid can't convert T4 properly. Are you taking selenium, tyrosine and Iodine (lugols or iodoral) to help the thyroid?

Go to stop the thyroid madness site and join the yahoo group. You'll get lots of help there.
