Re: Opinion on plaque
I used to have this problem... I was required to go every three months for cleanings due to the terrible build up.... and the cleanings were brutal for me and the dental hygienist.
Glycerine in toothpaste is, what I believe one huge culprit here, as it coats the teeth and prevents normal metabolism\interaction of the "live" bone.
I use a mixture of 1 part Terramin clay, 1 part baking soda and 1/2 part Real Salt to brush my teeth and usually wet the brush with H2O2. I have now, after several years of this and paying attention to diet and lifestyle, nearly no build up at all... just a little where I have some crowding on my lower teeth.
When I want to whiten them a bit (this is rarely an issue now), I may use a bit of lemon juice on the brush with the powder.
I realized plaque reduction benefit with oil pulling as well, although I no longer regularly practice oil pulling - perhaps once or twice a week when the mood strikes.
As an aside, my dental "pockets" have all improved greatly as well. I was told last time I went in for a cleaning that they do not normally see that kind of reversal in dental pockets improvement or plaque reduction, especially in someone my age - 53.
They think I am brushing and flossing my teeth like crazy... nope... brush and floss once a day is all... sometimes I skip a day or two and my teeth still feel clean.
I think conventional brushing and toothpastes, like most commercial personal hygiene and cosmetic products, hide the "symptoms" of dis-ease from us.
