Re: could the mirena start/contribute to candidiasis?
absolutely-I have no external symptoms. leisions, etc are only one form. No, I dont think there are truly any definitive tests for it, because candida exists naturally in the body.
heres a couple of good links:
this is a good link with the different types of candida, as well as causes and possible treatments. traditional medicine applies here.

this is a site based on Dr. Cooks book about yeast. a more holistic site, but he does recommend finding a physician to work with you. I actually found it off a post here on curezone-there a questionaire you can fill out. -of course, it seems I test positive for everything I take a questionaire on :(

I think the basic protocol for treatment is no sugar, anti- fungals (there are both natural remedies and medications-sounds like medications would work better), and probiotics (are you getting all probiotics or just acidophollus? I think that matters.)
I have a buttload of blood tests pending from the rheumatologist, so I am not getting too carried away. that diet sounds crazy, and with 3 kids, probably impossible to keep up with :(
My gp said the next step if nothing comes up from the rheum is a maybe a biopsy to check my intestinal flora (ANOTHER specialist). Yes-she believes me. I also have my medical records to back up my theory on the
Antibiotics -so that helps a lot toward my credibility.
I know hveragerthi has posted a bunch about candida, but I wasnt able to find his specific protocol. He would probably be a good source to help narrowing down what is most important, and what to do first.....maybe we should e-mail him?
