the Sugar in the maple syrup will quench the cravings and
make for a mild and controlled cold turkey, whist giving his liver, et al, a break!

Although,molasses may be a good idea in lieu of maple...many more nutrients,minerals and vits.

just my 2 cents, based on current exchange rate.
