kidney stone fears

I just found out that I have a large kidney stone (1cm) in my right kidney. I scheduled a lithotripsy procedure for next month, with much skeptisism. I am afraid to do a kidney cleanse because of the size of the stone. Does anyone have experience with disolving such a large stone? Any opinion would be greatly appreciated.
My fears about the lithotripsy are damage to my kidney and other organs. Has this procedure been helpful to anyone else?
