I just found this forum so I apologize about being late on this.

You may be doing a lot more help than you even realize. One of the most important people in my recovery was a sargeant from the rape investigation unit who wasn't even involved in my case. He wasn't a counselor, he was just a friend who listened and offered advice when he had it. The most important thing is the connection you make with her. No amount of training or schooling can teach you that.

And so you understand where I'm coming from: I'm 43 now. I was raped from age 11 to 15 (yes, lost my physical virginity to rape) and then violently raped at the age of 29.
