Re: Ladies - Did iodine affect your periods?

Most all of my adult life, ( Iam 48) I have been like the average "All American woman" with horrible long heavy clotty periods. Could have sworn I was having a miscarriage every month even when there was no possibilty of a pregnancy. To many years docs have said this is a normal part of being a woman. Nothing could be done for me but deal with it. Was even told that having another baby would help correct this. Yeah right! Well I did deal with it monthly. I really disliked being a woman at this time. When I began to hurt, and hurt more I became a profitable customer for for Motrin and or Adivl. When I began to crawl to the bathroom in the middle of the night looking like I had been shot or stabbed I became a profitable cistomer for prescriptions. I was near begging for a hysterectomy. If it weren't for my stubborn refusal to loose any more body parts that God Himself gave me I would have caved in. Learning about bio-identical hormones saved me from making that wrong choice. The hormones helped alot but did not solve everything every month.
At least now I was back to Motrin or Advil.
Learning about Iodine convinced me that I made the right choice. My first periods after starting Iodine was long as usual but not life stealing. I bled alot but not like I was dieing. However after upping to 50 mg last month I thought life was over for me. I found my self so wishing for real hard core pain killing drugs.Gave a whole new meaning to ' I am Woman Hear Me Roar'! And Roar I did. I would stand up to go to the bathroom and all hell broke loose. No feminine pad was EVER made to hold that mess of clots. Usually the real bad life debilitating pain was for only one day. This one though stayed with me for three days. Walking anywhere even a step or two required me holding my crotch for fear of loosing the clots down my pant leg.
I know it can get worse before it gets better but geez this was so wrong.
Well I just finished my second period. Back down to Advil and a very few small clots. Still bleeding to long but feeling relief. So looking forward to hopefully being like I was when a teen. Light easy painless and not dieing.
Do not want to continue being an "Average All American Woman" any more.
Thanking my God for leading me to Iodine for sure. And looking forward to healing with all of you!
