as much as I like the idea of anything that aims to get rid of combustion world wide, I really wonder about this system of carbon credit. Any time I hear the word credit now, I get hesitant...


Sounds like it would be an easy system to manipulate from what I am thinking. Make ABC company, sell CO2 credits from ABC, fudge the books of ABC company.

And the companies that buy CO2 credits would probably not only own ABC company, they would get tax breaks for buying CO2 credits.

I am also thinking that this would be a great way to launder money.

On top of this TPTB would skim cash off of the transactions, while hiding the paper trail.

Any regulating system would probably be already be in deep capture, so it would only really apply to emerging companies. Which could still be a good thing...

The only way for this to work is for the CO2 credits to not be tax deductible. And companies selling CO2 credits would have to be held accountable via diligent enforcement of regulations.

And I dont see how this will curb CO2 emissions world wide. It might as well be an equalization payment to some nations.
