I see (warning, long boooring post)
Ah, I see. Well, your goals are much more realistic now.
I have to warn you though when it comes to fasts, (even if you start with juicing,) what really matters is how you end it. Dropping cold turkey from normal food isn't to be recommended either. I'd say, take a week preperation, eating lightly as you've planned on doing afterwards. That way, you can test yourself to see if you think you can keep this up.
You might think, "oh, but afterwards I'll have a new mindset that will keep me from splurging." Or anyway, that was what
I thought when I embarked on my first fast. To say I broke it badly is an understatement. The problem is that after the fast, (with water it's worse than with juice ofcourse, because you're actually supplying your body with food) when you put food in your mouth, your body will jump into overdrive, thinking eat-eat-eat! Reigning that in is tough, but essential if you want to keep the benifits of the fast. You can keep the weight off, using the self control you mastered during the fast.
Okay, you said you wanted to alternate between water,
juicing and protein shakes. I have to admit I have little experience with protein shakes (usuage during fasts, I mean.) My theory is that a fast's purpose is to clean the body of it's "junk" therefore using your fat reserves as fuel. If you supply your body with protein during your fast, it might not turn to that junk so easily. Remember, our bodies are built for survival. It really wants to hold on to that fat.
Again, I'm theorizing here,
so I hope a veteran will take notice of this thread and help out. (If not, I'll bug them with my pesky PM's *evil grin*)
Why do you want to switch between fasts though? I've heard other people doing it (on the intermittent fasting forum.
If I were you, I'd edit your original post and cross post it in several fasting forums. Water Fasting Support, Juice Fasting and the one you have now. It'll attract more people = better advice)
To be honest I've only done juice fasts (15 days on juice) and several
Water Fasts (building up from 10 to 20 days.)
juicing is the best way to start if you've never fasted before. The cleansing isn't as unpleasant as waterfasting, which can be really rough on your body, and the transition from fast to food isn't as hard.
juicing is a great way to test your self control. If you insist on switching during those 3 weels, I'll have to do some research at the forum for you, because I don't have any first hand experience to speak of in that field. Luckily, we are in the midst of experts...Now only I had a whistle to tell them to get over here! ;-)
I will get back to you!
