Re: ETL and weight gain?
Hi there. Welcome aboard!
I'd like to suggest a few things: firstly, I would recommend not weighing daily. Yes, your body may need to adjust but weighing day to day isn't a good gauge of how your body is doing all together. It's possible that if you're eating a ton of stuff and not much BM, when the BMs start going, you will lose. And trust me, this diet will make them go. Also, are you careful about which types of foods to restrict? Nuts are in limited quantities b/c you may be able to gain if you eat a bunch (depending on factors including whether you are already overweight).
I'm thinking stick to the diet - meaning eat restricted foods little to none, get your non-starchy veggies and your fruits & beans in as suggested and don't weight right away. When your body is getting used to the foods and things start moving in the bathroom, you may see a big change.
Also suggest as the doc says to commit to a certain amount to try it out. He suggests 6 weeks, that's plenty of time to wait and see big changes. He does weigh patients in after 2 weeks and they see changes then. Just a thought. It may help not to weigh if you keep reading about ETL (do you have the book?) - learning more about how this eating style can impact your health will help motivate you. Good luck!
