Birthmark removal

Is there a way to have a lighter skinned toned birthmark removed? I've been self conscious of my birthmark for years. It is noticeably smacked right in between my breasts and it's pretty big, 2 quarters size. It's a shade or two lighter than my complexion. I've heard of dermatologists removing birthmarks that are darker in complexion with laser but never heard of removing lighter colored ones, so are there any irreversible procedures? Is there any hope for me besides applying dark makeup to hide this birthmark? :( I can't waer cute shirts because I am insecure about my birthmark peeking it's ugly head and it looks odd. Help!
