Lenny - so you can't tell where the odor is coming from? I have similar problems as you but I can smell myself. In fact I am now always aware of when I first start stinking but like you I have heard comments about strange smells and I know that it is me that they are smelling. Like you, I drink alcohol to calm my nerves. When my problems first started it seemed as though it wasn't as bad when I didn't drink the night before but lately it makes no difference whether I drink or not. My odor has been mainly fecal coming from my anus but lately when I work out at the gym I can smell a strong Body Odor coming from my anus as well that doesn't quite smell like feces but it does stink. I get a little relief from a bath but it comes back soon after. All I can tell you is that you are not alone. Do you have any food intolerances ? What is your diet like?
