Re: I just got Mirens yesterday

I have battled situational Depression and anxiety since my teenage years, so I completely understand what you are going through.

Initially when I had my Mirena put in, I did not experience any side effects. I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. It did not improve my mood, nor give me energy - but the thing is if YOU feel better - then it doesn't matter what is causing it. If it is the Mirena (which I doubt) or something else, all that matters is that YOU feel better.

It took 3 years for the side effects to manifest to a point where I couldn't tolerate having the IUD. My personal opinion is that you should be aware of the potential side effects, keep abreast of any new information regarding the Mirena, and enjoy feeling good. This forum kinda does bash the IUD because we've all had such trouble, but who's to say that your other issues aren't because of a hormone deficiency that the IUD compensates for?

Oh, as far as pain pills go (I have a herniated disk - so I've had a lot of different narcotics in my time) each drug reacts differently in each person. Although it is pretty standard to feel tired and be nauseated, not everyone goes through this. With that said though - I would not believe the pain pills are what's making you feel happier. Depending on what kind they are, some can have a euphoric effect though.

Wish you all the best! Keep us posted.
