Re: RO or distilled--- Article about RO, distillation and other water filtering systems.

An Aquasana is good enough I believe... perhaps even a better way to go. If one wants to distill from that point, it would be a much better distilled than from the tap through the distiller for the reasons cited here...

>> "Distillation and reverse osmosis are ineffective at reducing synthetic chemicals." <<

The R/O we use is run through an activated charcoal filter to remove chlorine, organic compounds, THM's - chloroform and other carcinogenic byproducts, pesticides, herbicides, and other chemical contaminates, and it is ozonated, which acts as a disinfectant and increases oxygen content of the water... though the O3 does dissipate over time.

I can run batch after batch of the R/O water through my distiller without cleaning any sediment out of it at all... which leads me to believe it is a high quality purified water; however, void of minerals :-(

Oh, for a pure stream of clean, running water... the stuff of dreams... though I did at one time drink directly from the dripping runoff of a melting glacier - and at another, directly from a pure underground spring water aquifer - yummy... I will never forget the taste of those waters... can almost be described as sweet tasting.

I have been considering an Aquasana as a primary backup source for cooking and drinking water. I use their shower filter and am pleased.
