Re: post fast diet

Hi Somer,

In the past my bad foods have been anything sweet and anything bread. Way high up there is any sweet bread. i.e. pretty much anything to be found in a bakery. I used to be a huge ice cream eater as well. Carbs were the big thing. When I would eat something sweet from the bakery that someone had brought into work, I would be plagued by carb and/or sweet cravings all day long. I made some progress with a series of short fasts and some adjustments. Still if I eat too many trigger foods, then I am obsessed with eating bad until I've overeaten badly or fasted for a day.

Even after doing a fast and eating high fruit diets, I would come to want veggies, then carbs/sweets again. I found that with this diet where I load up on veggies, the carb cravings don't really come.

It's REALLY nice having not having those types of driven cravings for the last week+.

Dr. Fuhrman suggests that an optimal diet is 90% calories from plant foods which boils down to the equivalent about one meal a week with all lower nutrition foods, including meet. That may be extreme for me. I do eat meat and my husband does like more traditional meals. What I'm thinking is that I may be somewhere closer to 70%-80% high nutrient foods. This would mean that I'm only eating on the plan during the day. This I don't have a problem with. I like not trying to work while my mind persistently wonders where I can get a muffin or pastry and I like feeling light and good. For me this would mean that a few nights a week I may try to get hubby to eat a vegetarian meal or go out where I can get salad, then a few nights cook some foods that are healthy but more traditional like chicken & veggies. On the weekends I would like to stick to strict days and moderate dinners.

Anyway, this is the plan in my head which would make my ending diet packed with far more nutrients than my previous one. I think I'll be happy with my weight, health and diet at that point. That's the plan. I'm updating the other forum with my thoughts of course. Geez I can go on. I wonder if I could've said all of this in 8 words the way my husband says he could sum up my responses! :-P
