Gary Young, the president of Young Living, created the blend Thieves and the formula was based on research about a group of thieves that used to steal valuable belongs from those that had just died from the plague.  They were able to walk amongst the dead without getting sick because they would rub a variety of essential oils on their bodies before entering an area. That is how he got the name and, personally, I absolutely love that story.  I use Thieves in diffusers to destroy bacteria and viruses in the air (so they say - But it just smelled really great too). And when I used to get a bit of phlegm in my lungs (I used to have a tendency for bronchitis) I would rub the oil directly on my chest and it would clear right up.  Fabulous stuff and a wonderful invigorating smell!
