Re: 30 day water only fast
It takes many years to put on weight and to try and change overnight for a family gathering in a few weeks time is simply not going to work. Now you are probably left with feelings of failure.
To fast effectively, you should have a good understanding of the fasting process beforehand. You should be doing it for yourself, not for others (I refer to the desire to look good in front of your family at a gathering). You need to set aside time for peace and rest during the several fasts that you will need to do, and space them out so they don't clash with social or other events. Refeeding is more important than the fast (which is easy) but the fast should help re-educate you on what's good and bad for you.
As fasting loses a pound a day, you should note that weight loss is 15
pounds a month max, as refeeding is for at least 50% of the time. I think 10
pounds a month is much more realistic as refeeding for me takes longer (you get a "feel" for this), and weight loss may be less towards the end. However by then you will feel better about yourself generally, so taking a little longer than planned to lose a few
pounds will be no big deal.
Scales should be accurate, and target weight should be the equivalent of a BMI in the low 20s.
Good luck
