it's not ridicule. However, the belief that something happened, like a miracle or talking to God or seeing a UFO, can often be marred by one's predisposed mindset. Ever heard of David Hume's famous phrase, that one's "emotion often outweighs their reason"? And you seem to be exemplifying this phrase.. Like how do you know I haven't experienced all this? I mean, that's the reason I joined, because I thought I might have had some encounters early on. However, I tend to be a realist, and I know that the likelyhood of an alien abduction/visit having occurred is less likely than a deluded, emotional mind that imprints the elements of an alien abduction/visit to justify it for them. So I'm very critical, and it makes me more aware of the different possibilities. And as I am a Buddhist, I think that challenging them is great, that's generally how we develop the logic behind the buddha's philosophy (it's not a blind-belief religion btw.
