My Dog is peeing on my couch

I recently discovered (to my horror) that my 16 year old Pek is urinating on the side of my couch. I have been scrubbing ever since. The research I have done sounds like it's pretty hopeless to break him of this habit. Once he has marked his territory, the scent on that couch will always be there.

Do you know of anything to put on the bottom of my couch to keep him away?
