Re: juicing combos
I usually add and apple or two to some of my veggie juices but since your insulin levels are high you can leave them out. It tastes good with or without. My favorite juices contain either fruit or carrot so I won't give you those since you can't drink them. Yes, you can juice onion. Garlic would be good too. I haven't tried either of them yet but I know people do both. I imagine you would only need a little since they are probably strong. I am searching for some recipes but it seems like all have something in it you can't have....hmmmm. Here are a few from my juicer book.
Alkaline special: 1/4 head cabbage (red or green) and 3 stalks of celery.
Love apple cocktail: 3 large ripe tomatoes, 1/2 cool cucumber, 1
Celery stalk, small slice of lime with peel. I imagine some onion, garlic and a dash of unrefined
Sea Salt may taste good in this too.
Blood
Sugar balancer: This contains carrots and apples so I am not sure if this would work but it does say it may be helpful for diabetes and hypoglycemia. 3 carrots, 2 lettuce leaves, 1 handful string beans, 4 brussels sprouts, 2 apples. Maybe you could only use 1 apple instead. What I've found is it's the carrots and apple (not necessarily combined) that make juices palatable.
Cabbage cocktail: 1/2 green cabbage, 2 stalks celery, 1/2 tomato OR 3 carrots.
Immune building cocktail: 2 tomatoes, 1 handful of parsley, 2
Celery stalks, 1/2 cucumber, 1/8 onion.
Hope that helps some. Once you get your insulin levels down you will be able to enjoy so many more juices. My all time favorite is just plain pineapple! YUM!
