Re: Excessive hairloss w/ hypothyroidism
I would consider discontinuing your Synthroid meds. For a long time (over 100 years) it was customary to prescribe Armour Thyroid, which is an extract of porcine thyroid gland. This medicine contains both T3 (the active thyroid hormone)and T4, along with other cofactors and such. Synthroid contains only T4. The conversion of T4 to T3 occurs in the liver and if the liver is not working optimally or is congested, this conversion will not occur.
It is customary for patients taking Synthroid to report symptoms getting worse instead of better. This may be from the T4 competitively binding with the active T3, further depressing the action of T3. Premier Labs used to put out a freeze-dried new zealand thyroid, but have recently discontinued production. There is a company that does sell freeze-dried thyroid from both cows and pigs. You can find them at

I would recommend the porcine thyroid as it has been used for a long time and is known to work.
If you would like to learn more about the thyroid, I would recommend that you buy a book called Hypothyroidism: The Unsuspected Illness by Broda Barnes. Barnes was an M.D. who studied the thyroid gland for 52 years!
It is also important that you consider the types of fats you put into your body as vegetable oils (particularly those with high omega-6 content) suppress the function of the thyroid gland. To learn more about this, you can check out:

best of luck,
