Any personal experiences will PARAGUARD (Copper IUD) ?

I had mirena for 3 months and had it removed because i was bleeding constantly and my skin and hair were greasy...i just felt something wasnt right also. i am on YAZ bc pills and its alright but i just cannot remember to take this pill and i am very interested in Paraguard. My question here is how long will it make your periods heavier? i heard under a year, if this is true and it wont last forever i want to get it. any personal experiences will be VERY appreciated!
