Re: FDA Reluctantly Admits Mercury Fillings Have Neurotoxic Effects on Children
The FDA is still doing all it can to promote amalgam in spite of that warning.
The FDA's web page with the warning can be found here. It's a FAQ, and question #3 has the warning paragraph. The remainder of the FAQ is still very much geared toward convincing people to keep putting mercury in their teeth.
For example, in spite of the warning, question #6 reads:
6. Should pregnant women and young children use or avoid amalgam fillings?
The recent advisory panel believed that there was not enough information to answer this question.
The panel "believed"? Nice to know that our government's highest scientific authorities operate primarily off of their beliefs.
Too bad they routinely ignore the real experts who continue to provide genuine evidence. Consider, for example, this PDF, which was submitted to the FDA in 2006. Not enough information to answer the question? Perhaps the panel experts' fitness for the position should be challenged on the grounds that their own IQs are probably suffering from all those fantastically safe mercury fillings they have.
