question about topical use- how to make a gel?

I have many skin issues (rashes) and am using CS internally to help, among other things. I've heard that CS can be useful when used topically, but, that it has to be kept on for awhile. Have also seen various web pages market CS gel. Anyone know how to make your own gel? I recently bought a silver puppy generater, so, I have the silver... just need to figure out how to make the gel....
