Re: Questions about recent experience w/ alpha-lipoic acid
Hi Quinta_Essentia - I have long since stopped taking the ALA. I stopped within three or four weeks of starting it (and even when I was taking it, I *quickly* got to the point where I was "only" taking 50mg R-ALA every other day).
And I do have mercury dental fillings - I have at least eight of them (maybe 9 or 10 - a couple are either partially or fully worn away). I am the person who wrote in a few weeks ago about calling my former childhood dentist to ask for my records (and how evasive and "in denial" she was).
I swear - this just goes to show you that, if you're going to take a supplement - you have to do *thorough* research. If I didn't become "intrigued" by the possibility of mercury-toxicity and order Andrew Cutler's books and lurk on Curezone - I could still be in the dark about the dangers of ALA. Like I said - I perused *several* websites when I was looking to buy ALA, and I didn't see anything about how mercury-poisoned people should not be taking it - all I saw were glowing positives about this supplement. It's scary how a person can research a supplement and be "assured" that it is o.k. - yet still miss crucial information.
(Then again - it could be that I came across the warnings - but it didn't register because I wasn't yet in the mindset that I could be mercury toxic.)
Maybe I should research Curezone and/or start a thread about Coenzyme Q10 before I consider buying it. This is the latest supplement that I've become "convinced" will help me - but who knows, maybe there is something dangerous about this, too?
P.S. - thanks for the link!
