EDIT: Direct explanation is: Drugs and other poisons slow the liver down making it unable to make bile properly. Then the colon is dirty so we can't absorb our food. We pick up bug eggs from the environment, we inget them, they hatch because of the solvents we expose ourselves to, the bugs go from the colon to the blood and then set up housekeeping in the liver. The body makes stones in the gall baldder and liver to protect itself from parasites. Thus, the stones, drug and parasite debris begin to plug up the liver. When it gets plugged up enough, it can't function properly and then the liver tissue starts to get sick resulting in elevated liver enzymes if it has gone far enough.
