Genital Herpes

Hi, I'm 19 years old and I hate to say this but I think I've been infected with gential herpes for 2 years and haven't done anything about it. I'm really scared because everything I read says that breakouts should only last for up to 4 weeks. I've had a breakout for almost 6 months. It's not bad but it's more around my rectum than anything. I guess my question is, is this possible or do I have something else?
