cortisol/prednisone

I spoke with one of the natural, compounding pharmacists in my city, and because I mentioned that my mother had ultimately died from mis use of prednisone (she had Temporal Arteritis to begin with and I hated that drug, the pharmacist told me I had to read "Safe Uses of Cortisol" by William, McK. Jeffries. I bought the book and read it. I think it makes sense. Jeffries has pased away and some things have been addded as knowledge has increased.I have the third addition. I think all endocrinologists sould have this as required reading.

My question is, have you read this book and what are your feelings on its' conclusions? And why do doctors even use prednisone?

Thank You
