It could act as a form of quasi-barter. Usually barter is trading object for object. With silver its trading silver for object. Soon we will be using a global monetary system with an imbedded chip in the back of our hand. That will be scanned and voila! we can purchase what we want. No need for paperwork because the Central Bank will have a record of all transactions on the Cyclops Computer Network. Our minds will be free to think of other things and exchange recipes on the internet!
