Re: Burning urethra after oral sex
There are many causes of urethritis, bacterial, viral, etc... including herpes.
Here's a big secret that shocks most people when they find out the hard way:
A "full std screening" in most American clinics does not include testing for herpes, and herpes is about the last std you would want after HIV. You have to specifically ask for a herpes test, and sometimes force them to test for herpes if that's what you want because most doctors do not want to give herpes tests and will try to convince patients to NOT get a herpes test. Most doctors blow off herpes like it's no big deal.
Herpes is permanent and highly contagious. Symptoms can appear quickly, doctors say within a few hours, but I have heard personal comments that it can be much sooner. It takes weeks or months for a herpes to show up on a blood test so if you test now you could get a false negative.
You said:
"the "rape ward nurse" at the hospital informed me that it would be very very rare for he to get something after just one encounter.... and that one encounter would not likely bring a definite STD or something like that."
WHAT!?!?!? THAT IS WRONG WRONG WRONG. This is what I am talking about, that nurse was absolutely wrong and irresponsible to give that false information. It is not rare to catch a disease from one sex act, especially a rape and where protection was not used. That nurse is acting solely to calm the victim, telling your girlfriend what she WANTS to hear instead of what she NEEDS to hear, and that that ends up spreading the disease to someone like YOU!
HIV/AIDS can spread through oral sex so you and your girlfriend want to get tested for that too.
