Re: 22 and high systolic, normal diastolic, what should I try?
Hey BuddhaBoi,
By the way, so are you asian? I'm just curious as to know if there are some meds that work better for asian folks. Well, my father is on HCTZ as well, and it has stabilized his BP from 160-170 down to 127 in his systolic. His diastolic is normal. ANother man I know has his systolic normalized with a diuretic. Some people have better effects with certain drugs than others. You should just experiment. Try and ARB at first and see if that works. Get a home bp monitor. I recommend the AND UA-767. Then monitor your BP through out the day over a period of a couple weeks on a certain med. If that med doesn't help, ask the doc to switch to another. Actually, ask him for samples for several meds and see which one works best for you. ARBs and ACE inhibitors are generally the most tolerated and have the least side effects. ACE will cause a dry cough like it does for my cousin. Diuretics are cheap, and work just as well, if not better, than ACE. You should also look into another Diuretic called chlorothalodone. Or ask the doc to see if you can get prescribed a potassium sparing diuretic. These are beneficial for people who get diarrhea on diuretics. Anyhow, you might also need to take a couple meds to control your BP.
BTW, did you ever try that eggplant tonic? I'm beginning to smell bull shit on that thread.
