Re: 22 and high systolic, normal diastolic, what should I try?

Thanks for your long reply! ^-^

Yes I did get a full blood test, they were worried about my thyroid since I have a hard time keeping weight on but my blood test came back normal.

I also had one of those 24hr urine tests that checks the vanillamandelic acid, 5HIAA, and aldosterone levels and that came back normal as well.

As for my parents, my mom has no problems with blood pressure, my dad has had some problems with blood pressure, he says he had a few times when he's been under lots of stress his bp rises and he gets chests pains but it's only been temporary and he currently doesn't have a problem. My blood pressure has been high whether or not I feel stressed.

I have tried a diuretic before, hydrochlorothiazide, I was on it for 3 weeks but all it did was dehydrate me and make me have diarhea all the time, I couldn't even sit through one class without having to go, it was terrible.

You say there are drugs that control systolic well, which ones do? I have heard that most current drugs do a lot better controlling diastolic, but do fairly lousy on the systolic. I don't want to lower my diastolic, I do get sometimes in the 60's, I figure if it got pushed lower I'd have problems with feinting and dizziness and whatnot.
