Evian water - smooth as silk!
When I buy water from a grocery store (I don't have a water filter at home), I usually buy the cheapest cartons of spring water on the shelf. But this week, I bought a couple of liters of Evian water. Well, the difference in drinking-experience of Evian water vs. my usual cheap generic spring water was fairly amazing. Often, I find that plain water doesn't feel all that comfortable going down my esophagus - it even upsets my stomach a little sometimes (although not as often as it produces that uncomfortable feeling in my esophagus). Ironically, I find that adding some juice to this "uncomfortable" water makes it a much more comfortable and "smoother" drinking experience. That's why I end up drinking diluted fruit juice quite often - instead of plain water.
Well, the Evian water felt very smooth going down - it felt physically good to drink it. I was very content not adding any fruit juice to it.
Recently, I did some pH tests on the cheap spring waters that I typically drink. The cheap spring water that Walmart sells seemed to have a pH greater than 7, maybe even close to 8 (it's hard to tell the EXACT pH using this test - the color changes aren't super-distinguishable. The test just good for giving a "ballpark estimate".). The spring water I buy from Ingles had a more acidic pH - somewhere between 6 and 7. Guess what? The Ingles spring water is easier to drink plain than the Walmart spring water - it's a more comfortable drink. So this led me to conclude that - while
Alkaline Water is supposedly "healthier" - consuming water that is slightly on the acidic side makes for a more comfortable drinking experience.
(I wonder if it's actually something else about these waters that influences their "drinkability" - maybe I should test for chlorine in the Walmart water, lol.)
Well - I tested the pH of the Evian water - and it's pH was greater than 7 (I'm not sure if it is quite as alkaline as the Walmart water though.). But something about it makes it much "smoother-feeling" than either the Walmart or the Ingles water. I wonder what it is? Is it somehow more "structured" than other kinds of spring water? Is it some specific mineral (or combination of minerals?)?
Man - I wish I could afford to drink Evian water all the time!
