I had figured out what the most common source of the white tongue is.
Thrush is usually quite obvious, because there are plaques which are thick, and can bleed underneath. Plus, the white can extend to the soft tissues.
My investigation concluded that white is a build-up of cells, some of which are active immune cells degranulating. This can cause small clear patches. Also, I have detected very high levels of both nitrates and nitrites in saliva. This can be a byproduct of parasite secretions, and immune cell secretions.[IMO] The main cellular build-up is from sloughing and fast replicating epithelial cells---which I think may also be secreting waste products. This is part of our innate immune response. It means there is something foreign somewhere in mouth, stomach, or upper digestive tract area which is evading the more complex immune mechanisms.
