Wombat, I'll bet that acorn flour is delicious :)!

Ref the Florida acorns:
If you send a sample of the leaf/twig and acorn to 'Fairchild Tropical Gardens' in Miami, FL they will identify the exact botanical name and species for you, then you can look it up elsewhere on the web to check edibility and usage.

The author Dr. Julia Morton wrote several *excellent* books on Florida wild edibles and most of the Southeast US also, IIRC.
