Cool. thank you. Acording to my family legends, my great grandfather was stuck on the estern sierra because he tried to travel to california too late in the year, and he survived the winter eating acorns.

I've seen grinding areas all over the west coast where acorns were ground, basically holes in the rocks, usually near water.

Does anyone know if you can eat Florida acorns? I have lots of them, but hubbie says they are a different variety, and notedible. Doesn anyone know?
