Personally, I find water fasting to be an excellent path for weight lose.
After a career change that had me on the road 46 weeks a year for 5 years touring with major acts, I found myself co-owner of a company that kept me in a more sedentary lifestyle. Even though I have rarely been into junk foods, my activity level plummeted and my weight started rising.
Water fasting and juice fasting are the only avenues I've found to truly address the weight gain. The longest juice fast was 30 days and I dropped 32 pounds and my blood pressure was back down to normal in just one week. That experience cleansed my palate and changed my view towards foods. I was then able to easily water fast to continue the weigh loss and further detox.
Is it hard to water fast? Absolutely. But if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. It's also faster than having gastric bypass surgery and a lot healthier for you too!
