You are right, except for one small detail. When communism fully manifests itself there usually are no masses around to push it back. Long before it ever calls itself communism, the system has implemented a long and pervasive effort at brainwashing through the news media and schools, etc. By the time it rears its ugly head, there are already large and vociferous groups who will advocate for the "change" with all they've got, and they will stop at nothing to ensure that the system gets in place with no opposition. This opposition to nay sayers goes all the way from neighborhood vigilantsia, indoctrinated students reporting on home activities, to death and incarceration for dissidents. History gives plenty of examples to anyone paying attention, look around.

Communism has been slowly creeping into the American landscape for a good forty+ years. One of the most telling characteristics is the anger and arrogance in its proponents' attitude. When you begin to see children in schools chanting and wearing revolutionary symbols, when "volunteereism" is enforced on every citizen, when the have nots hate and decry the fortune of the haves, when things begin to be set up so that everyone "shares" in what only a few have worked hard to achieve and when those products of achievement or inheritance are taken away by force ....that's just the beginning. When fully enforced you will never know what hit you, but by then it's too late. You have lost the freedom to say or do anything to gain your rights back, and you will live in constant fear of being silenced or be put to death by the enlightened ones who are making sure we're in a better world.

This forum is a tragic example of that process, as seen by how a very few brave souls who tell it like it is are called insane and insulted into withdrawal. The irony is the moral higher ground taken by the enforcers of "change".

I will be one of those who will be subject to those insults and charges of lunacy, but it's okay, I've already been through this whole process .... I speak from experience... I've been seeing it coming for years, but I always hoped that I would be wrong, or that somehow this wouldn't come to fruition on this great nation, but I was right all along. Oh, that I were wrong ...Tragic.
