Definition:
Shingles consists of a very painful rash that often appears on the side of the body in a narrow band. This disorder usually affects individuals with compromised immune systems. The same virus (varicella zoster) that causes chicken pox also causes shingles. The nerve pain that lingers after the rash has cleared is known as postherpetic neuralgia.

My son, who is 13, was diagnosed with Shingles today.
OK, NOT SO RARE, BUT NEVER GOOD EITHER.


The doctor said that in a child the pain doesn't get severe and it usually doesn't spread too far and goes away within a couple of weeks.

IT NEVER GOES AWAY, IF YOU DON'T CHANGE THE LIFESTYLE, THIS WILL BE A FOREVER THING POPPING UP WHEN EVER THE IMMUNE SYSTEM FAILS.


That being said, I don't want him to suffer from the pain he is already having or give it time to get worse. He said it's been hurting for three days now, and he only just told me because it got so bad. He had thought it was just muscle pain and didn't know he had the rash on his back. and swears vitmin E will help, but I can't find that in any research other than for chicken pox. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
