My understanding is that it is Mercury vapour from peoples amalgmn filling in their teeth that has been
linked to developing Parkinson's syndrome.
Also, many years ago, Mercury was used in the process of hat making.
Lots of hat makers came to develope Parkinson-type symptoms: stooped posture, tremors and shuffling etc.
As this progressed, they lost their jobs.
It lead to the old saying,"as mad as a hatter".
