getting amalgam removed at regular dentist

Hi,
People recommend going to the biological dentist to get mercury removed, but if that is not an option. Could I go with a regular dentist and do chelation afterwards to remove any mercury that might have deposited into the body?
It will just take longer right?
Is cleaning the teeth just as bad(mercury exposure wise with the high speed polishing) as getting them removed?

Besides chlorella and activated charcoal, is there any more precautions that can be taken right before the appointment?

Thanks
Steve
