Re: What it means to be a Muslim
La hola quarta illah bilah. Thank you so much for commenting on this beautiful site. I was so hoping to get some interaction. I understand what you are saying and yes the text is from the intellectual muslims group and I am merely passing on their message and understand your feelings but lets talk about it a little.
The personality of Muslims makes them natural leaders and longing for political commission."
This is hardly an accurate portrayal of such a large community of believers with different qualities and interests. Yes I understand how you feel but the general personality of the strongest in faith, I mean as the sheiks and imans and those truly on a straight path are meant for leadership. As in dealing fairly with the people, judging in the right and wrong and compassion. Humility is something that all leaders could use a little more of and I too. As an American I tend to be too bold.
"To be a viceroy of Allah sent to revive Islam as the only deen for mankind to live by."
I don't recall the Quran saying that we have to be "Viceroys of Allah" I think our status is more like servants and we should be happy to serve God and those in need as is outlined in God's scriiptures. Reviving Islam in our own hearts is a far greater task than lecturing others on it.
Again I agree, fore sure the word viceroys was never used. We are here to pass the word on and never to force anyone to become Muslims. As the sheiks in Saudia have emphasized that we are not to be sad when one of our relatives do not become Muslims as this is Allah's decision. But I must say that it is the responsibility of every Muslim to spread his education. You will be questioned on Judgement day about your religion and your education and your time. The Imaan will be thrown into the hellfire who was arrogant and a braggart and who wanted to show the people who he was and what his status was. If you have knowledge and you never spread it, you too will have problems as we have been told by the hadith.
"Once you have learnt a new topic of Islam don't be like the Jews of the past who kept the laws for themselves."
Slandering the People of the Book does nothing to help your case for kindness and charity. God has said in the Torah, the Bible and the Quran that some of those who received the scriiptures have always rebelled. But that does not mean all of them. And God is the only one who can judge who is rightly guided and who is not.
Again I want you to see the general rule and if you will read the entire Quran it talks many times of how the Jews broke the rules and Allah punished them. They were in high favor and in the end they will rise up against the Muslims and be defeated.
Amen.
As Muslims, we do not want to backbite that is true. But I for myself have many Jew friends, I have some gay friends, and I have some Christian friends. A Muslim learns all he can about all the religions and never judges anyone. I don't care about what the peoples's religion is, just how they treat me. You do not have to be a Muslim to be my friend, but as Allah states, that we are not to take non Muslims as our closest friends and protectors.
3:199. And there are, certainly, among the People of the Book, those who believe in Allah, in the revelation to you, and in the revelation to them, bowing in humility to Allah. They will not sell the Signs of Allah for a miserable gain! For them is a reward with their Lord, and Allah is swift in account.
We know that only Muslims can enter heaven unless they pass the final test given by prophet Mohammad to jump thru the fire. So many might know the truth but few will follow.
Allah also states and please forgive me if it is not exact, but anyone who states that anyone will go directly to the hellfire, that person will take their place. So as you said, only Allah knows. Look at the story of the prostitute who gave the dog a drank of water and Allah forgave her. Look at the man who was a horrible person and on the road accepted Islam and was on the way to tell Prophet Mohammad and died, and he was forgiven. So Allah only knows. I must read these text better before posting them. And please forgive me for the inconsistency of the text. I must be more careful.
