Re: Oh my God I feel sooo much better
We are not all the same. You can do well with a Yin diet, or a Yang diet, and even one or the other at different times of your life. The problem is, devout vegetarians condemn eating animal products and meat eaters think vegetarians are in la-la land. Blood type enthusiasts believe Type O (blood) people need much more meat, and that the other types can go more vegetarian. Mercola has the metabolic type diets.
All this causes so much controversy. One caveat should be that your food should be natural, not processed. Allow yourself to choose among natural foods and see what works for you. What works for you is what makes you feel better after eating it. It is what makes you feel stronger.
Currently I do well on an Atkins-type diet. I eat lots of vegetables, mostly cooked. And I have to remind myself to get adequate protein, as meat is not something I really like. I do very well on soy, while others scream against it. I just ignore the naysayers, trust my body to know what is good for me. There is diabetes in my family, and I grew up eating a lot of grains. Any grain raises my blood sugar, so I have to avoid it. I have tried varieties of grains, and even ground my own, but it doesn't matter. At this stage of my life I cannot eat grains. I try to avoid pork and shellfish, but at this point I am not sure if that has improved my health or not. I also avoid anything ANYTHING that gives me gas, as if it is not digested, it is not valuable. Let me say here that five years ago I could not eat anything raw, not even a banana. I figure my intestines were not in good shape. Now, I can eat pretty much anything I want, even cabbage or beans, without gas.
The bottom line is a
healthy Diet is a natural one, but could be high protein, low protein, high carbohydrates or low carbohydrates (some people can eat fruit that can't tolerate grains or starches), high fat or low fat - you have to test and see what it right for you. If you find that, and later on it begins to fail you, you have to review and either tighten it up or try another way. Sometimes you will just crave a steak when you are protein deprived. Or get constipated or dry skin if you are fat deprived. But sometimes, you just feel bad if you are not on the right diet. Even small lapses are noticeable and one has to become sensitve to them for optimum health.
I am gentle with myself. If I choose wrongly, I feel it, so next time I do better. I don't get fanatical about it, nor do I beat myself up about it.
Only YOU can choose for you.
