Placebo Effect...?

Because it shows up so often that even scientists must make allowances for it in every human test of the effectiveness of a medication, could we say that the 'placebo effect' (healing because you think you will) is a capability of humans...at least some of us?

It may be only whimsy on my part, but I further speculate that those who DON'T feel better, or heal to some degree, on a 'sugar pill' had some doubt that they would.

So, what would happen if anyone decided to put their confidence in some small innocuous food or spoonful of water, and take it daily?

Grapes come to mind, or pumpkin seeds, or cherry tomatoes, or you name it...something that you like.

If a placebo used in scientific tests can be candy, a Sugar pill, and still help people, then our at-home placebo could be almost anything that is small, pleases us, and that we could believe in. All we'd need to do is say the words of healing as we take it, chew it, and swallow.

It needn't be a big production, I think...simply declare that this will heal a particular ailment you'd rather not have, starting with something small...and have one 'placebo' every day.

I think it would be worthwhile to try, and cheap enough.

Let's see...three raisins, 1/2 hour before breakfast.

"For my complete well-being, beginning with my morning runny nose."

:D
