Re: Stress/Thyroid Or Adrenals?/Iodine Protocol/Alarm!!!
Unfortunately I caught this post a little late but...
I HAD stage five adrenal fatigue. It got so bad between hashimoto's and AF that for past years I couldn't work for many periods of time so I ended up taking hydrocortisone for the last year.
I agree that
Iodine can be taxing on adrenals in the sense that
Iodine instigates detoxification as well as waking up the hormones. So yes in that sense the adrenals can percieve this healing and cleansing process as a stressor. My several attempts w/ potassium
Iodine ended w/ me nearly debilatated b/c of extreme fatigue and throat closing.
However it is my personal belief that it was simply the form of iodine (Potassium iodide) that was problematic for me but not iodine itself. Once I switched to iosol
iodine I began to receive great benefits w/ managable detox. Recently I have tried magnascent (intuitivly this stuff feels right on for adrenal issues). After these experiences i believe that my body had problems processing and utilizing potassium
Iodide which was truley the stressor and once I took more bioavailable forms that stressor was removed.
After 1 1/2 mos. of iosol and magnascent I am off ALL thyroid meds and hydrocortisone (this is huge for me)- So I actually believe iodine is very necessary for all kinds of endocrine problems including AF b/c your hormones begin to communicate better and work more efficiently which is key. I feel as strong as was 10 years ago which is amazing considering I felt sick every time i exercised for the past 5 years. The list could go on about all the healthy changes I've witnessed in my body since starting iodine.
So think twice before you rule it out. It has changed and continues to change my life for the better :)
