I have...lots of others have. I'm speaking from experience. Shattering my arm and unconscious after and accident 2 years ago, first thing I did when I awoke from surgery is run the IV Antibiotic into the trash (hospital officials wouldn't let me leave until it's done...excuse me? I & I ALONE will determine what I put in my body. I could've caused a ruckuss but took the quiet approach). I went home immediately despite protest and put myself on 35-35 grams of vitamin C (along with other things), adjusted my diet appropriately, and healed without pain nor complications. Threw the "course of Antibiotics " & prescriiption or pain drugs in the trash. The only complication experienced was from a brace I had to wear because the hospital totally missed my complete fractured collar bone (clavicle). I did not want surgery (even though they told me I had to have it if I wanted use of my shoulder) , so I had to wear the blasted thing but I have full use of my arm.
I AM my own "authority" on me. I AM my own "expert" on me. Nobody in a white smock with plaques on their walls are going to tell me any different.
