Re: Anyone been hypnotized ?

58606, I read that article and it makes a few good points.

My opinions on hypnosis come from personal experience. Hypnosis can certainly benefit you, like chi-kung, or even yoga. But nonetheless, like yoga and chi-kung, hypnosis is a spiritual practice and it is impossible to seperate spirituality from many of these techniques, and hypnosis many be among them. One of the earliest promoters of hypnosis was Frederick Mesmer (where we get the term 'mesmerism', 'mesmerize'). He referred to hypnosis as "animal magnetism". It was similar to chi, or prana, in many ways.

When researching these techniques, it becomes pretty clear how they're all connected in some way, and most of them, if not all, have spiritual ties. Any spiritual practice can be dangerous and harmful, on many levels. Be hesitant because of potential harm, not only because of morality issues. Those who question things for purely moral reasons have usually been blessed with not being burned.

A good biblical reference on deciding whether something is good for you is 1 Cor. 6:12:

"All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any."

Think about it.

Excuse me if my post seems a little scatter-brained. I've been sick and it distracts me from thinking clearly.

Looking forward to your reply.
